About W.O.S.P.

History
W.O.S.P. is a project that has been brought about through the determination of a group of people once attending the Whinfell Centre at Longpool in Kendal. This group were dissatisfied with being labelled and decided that they would like to rid themselves of the stigma attached to them and at the same time offer a valuable service to their community.

Philosophy
Our philosophy at W.O.S.P. is that each person should be treated with equal respect and given equal opportunities to learn and experience work if that is what they wish.

Aim
Our aim is to train to achieve our maximum potential whilst gaining a recognised qualification and at the same time be able to offer a service to the community.

How is it Funded?
The project is funded by Cumbria Care, a part of Cumbria County Council.

About the Trainers
There are five part-time trainers with an on site full time supervisor. All have differing levels of experience and qualifications in office skills and training adults with Learning Disabilities. All are committed to the philosophy behind this project. I.T./technical support is provided by Cumbria County Council's IT department.
